This piece named American Dream is two polished stainless steel circles reflecting half skull each; the reflection of the Mickey skulls on the steel completes the work with an amazing visual effect. Cartú made this piece in collaboration with Mexican jewelry designer Iker Ortiz, when he was moving from Mexico to the United States, and through it represents a portrait about the transformation of immigrants looking for the American dream. The Mickey ears represent the aspirational American pop icon that we as immigrants are willing to die for.
